Benefits of OPS

Charter members established the Operations Security (OPSEC) Professionals Society (OPS) to further the application of OPSEC as a professional discipline and to foster the highest standards of professionalism and competence among its members. Our Society mission extends beyond just our members, as we attempt to help organizations understand and enable proper application of this mission-enhancing discipline.

OPS established the OPSEC Certified Professional (OCP) program to recognize individuals who meet the highest standards of the OPSEC profession. A network of OCP mentors is available to guide OCP candidates through the process of certification. Those who meet the criteria and maintain their certification are authorized to annotate “OCP” after their name.

In 2003, the Society created the OPSEC Associate Professional (OAP) level of recognition for those members who did not meet the OCP certification standard, but had met specific levels of experiences and formal education in the OPSEC discipline. The OAP (good for two years) was created to stimulate pursuit of the OCP certification. For detailed information on OAP see the Professionalism/Certifications portions of the website.

The Society communicates among its members using a series of electronic and printed communications venues. For more information, select "Communications" from the menu on the left side of this page.

Enhancing professionalism requires interaction with other professionals. The Society and its members seek to host or participate in seminars, workshops, and communications venues that contribute to increased professional development for members and other related professionals. Members who wish to host or sponsor an event should contact the Society President with a proposal.

OPS members abide with the spirit of the “OPS Code of Ethics”.
